Forum Title: Drywall Suspended Ceiling?
I'm doing a takeoff, and my specs are calling for a traditional framing system using a c-channel, and Furring (hat) channel. I have normally used actual drywall grid in the past to estimate, but this is calling fo a 4' o.c.e.w. The specs also call for a 3 5/8 20 guage stud as the c-runner. I would've thought some cold roll channel would work for that. I'm sure I will need to run my estimate off what the drawings call for. Anyways, is there a basic formula I can use to calculate how much hat channel I will need compared to the c channel? I have 3474 sqr feet of gyp ceiling at 1753 linear feet of total grid running off of my Oncenter Takeoff software. How would I tell which direction each would run on my plans? My drawings don't seem to specify. It's aslo not a basic shaped celing. It happens to be for a mall space, and they like to get fancy. I am a beginner at estimating materials. This would be my 4th project to work on.
